Pritzker declares Illinois a diesel disaster area, but fuel retailers are wary

Governor JB Pritzker declared a disaster in Illinois after diesel fuel prices surged 78%, from $3.73 to $6.64. His executive order allows farmers to use tax-exempt dyed diesel until December 31, following President Trump's actions. Farmers face challenges passing on fuel costs, and compliance issues may arise when the waiver ends, with penalties possible if it is not extended after January 1.
